Things people ask Ian
How much does a replacement car key cost?
An old-fashioned key that you turn in the ignition starts at £75. A remote key or fob starts at £140. Prices vary by manufacturer – a keyless fob for a newer German car costs more than a key for an older hatchback – so ring Ian with the make, model and year and he'll give you a firm price before he sets off. Usually a good deal less than the main dealer, and you don't have to get the car there.
Do I need to get the car to you?
No. Ian comes to wherever the car is – home, work or a car park – and does the job on the spot.
I've lost every key. Can you still make one?
Yes, for most cars. Ian reads the lock or the car's system, cuts a new blade and programs the chip and remote. You'll need to show proof that it's your car – a V5 or similar and some ID.
Will a new key stop my stolen key working?
Usually, yes. When programming a replacement Ian can delete the lost or stolen key from the car's memory so it no longer starts the engine.
How quickly can you come out?
Often the same day around Belper. Ring and ask – Ian will tell you honestly when he can be there.
When can I get hold of you?
Ian works 9am to 5pm. Outside those hours send a WhatsApp message whenever you like and he'll reply when he's back on.
